Wombats

This is an image that can't say much about. Wombats are relatively rare, unique to Australia, and mostly grey.
(am expecting this image will be stolen without attribution or payment .. sad, really).

Rosellas  (Platycerus)
Colourful broad-tailed parrots with distinctive cheek patches - white, blue or yellow.

Blue-cheeked Rosella  (Platycerus elegans)

Medium sized (32-36cm) blue-cheeked Rosella with red, yellow or orange body with blue wings and tail.
Juvenile; mottled red and green on head. Green back and upper wings, belly and undertail coverts.

Two basic forms; Crimson Rosella, with bright crimson head and body, darker in north, ocurring from Kangaroo Island in the south to Cairns, Qld - and Yellow Rosella (race flaveolus) with yellow body and head (shading to orange in south).
Found in riverine forests of Murray, Lachlan, Murrumbidgee and lower Darling River system.
Range; common in forested areas in east and southeast.

Yellow-tail black cockatoo


Yellow-tailed black cockatoo (calyptorhynchus funerious)

Large black cockatoo (60-70cm) with yellow tail panels, yellow ear patch.
Male: eye ring pink, bill dark grey
Female: eye ring pink, bill whitish, yellowish edges to breast feathers
Flies in small flocks with slow, measured wingbeats.
Voice: plaintive 'pleee-erk'.
Nests in hollow in tree branch, 1 - 2 eggs.
Range: common resident and nomad in woodland and forest in south-eastern Australia from Rockhampton, Qld to Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, also Tasmania.

This Rainbow lorikeet (trichoglossus haematodus) is perched on a small plum tree in a suburban backyard in Adelaide, South Australia

Range: common in all forest, heath, and woodland where blossoms occur in a wide coastal strip in northern and eastern Australia from Broome WA, to Kangaroo Island in South Australia.
